Bernedoodles (Standard & Miniatures)

Midwest Bernedoodle Pups are a combination of two well-mannered and loving breeds consisting of our Bernese Mountain Dog and Bernedoodle females with our Standard/Miniature Poodles. Bringing into the mix the loving gentleness of the Bernese, and the intelligence and hypoallergenic traits of no to little shedding of the poodle.

Bernedoodles tend to easily adapt to the lifestyles of their families, and the activities that have been unveiled to them. Their temperament allows them to be ok with activity or laying around on the couch during a lazy day, not requiring an excessive amount of exercise.

This breed naturally takes after the traits of the Bernese Mountain Dogs in it with it’s calm and patient personality, graced with self-confidence. They are a healthy dog who enjoys watching over it’s territory being aware of it’s surroundings making for a great watch dog, and working dog.

The Bernese Mountain Dog originated as a mountain farm dog, but in these day has become very popular as a companion dog or show dog suited in all rural and city areas. Noted for their calm and patient temperament they are great family dogs. Very loyal to their owners with a drive to please.

Mixed with either our standard or miniature poodles who are highly intelligent and have such fun loving personalities, they are a joy to spend time with. Poodles being hypoallergenic and non shedding which is wonderful for those with allergies for considering one of our breed of doodle mixes.

The traits of Bernedoodles are generally compassionate and very gentle. Therefore, making them great choices for therapy dogs. Our Bernedoodle miniature or standard sizes are well known for their natural Therapy Dog characteristics. Many are used in schools, nursing homes, and in individual homes to assist with medical issues, loneliness for companionship, or just in general bring a sense of calming to their environment. They love serving, and being your best friend!

ABOUT THE BREED Cross between an Old English Sheepdog and Miniature Poodle. The Miniature Sheepadoodle is a small version of the very popular Sheepadoodle dog.

Old English Sheepdogs are fast learners. They have a measurable amount of adaptability, a gentle nature, and enjoy regular walks and exploring. They are easy to train and show an eagerness to please their owners.

Miniature Poodle behaviors are playfully spunky, incredibly intelligent with a cute loving personality, which makes them enjoyable to train.

PERSONALITY The personality of the Miniature Sheepadoodle is influenced by the wonderful genetic makeup of the Poodle and the Old English Sheepdog. They are a pleasant balance of happy playful energy, kindness, obedience and cuteness. They are very loving and compassionate. A happy friendly dog that loves to go for swims.

Interesting fun fact: The U.S. Army developed the Sheepadoodle in the 1960s as a police dog due to its characteristics and obedient behavior. They have been successful service and guide dogs.

APPEARANCE/GROOMING/SHEDDING. Moderate grooming obtains a soft “cotton like” fur which emphasizes the beautiful coat of the Miniature Sheepadoodle. This enhances their beauty and charm, giving them a melt-your-heart appearance. They have unique markings and amazing personalities. Their characteristics will vary and are influenced by each breeder. So, the puppy you take home will be one of a kind!

TEMPERAMENT/SOCIAL/ENERGY. Keeping puppies socialized is very beneficial. Just like all breeds, maintaining a stern training regimen helps tame their sometimes boisterous energy, resulting in a well-balanced obedient adult dog. Most Miniature Sheepadoodle puppies are described as calm tempered, playful, intelligent, and display a friendly nature making a great family dog. Interesting fun fact: They never outgrow being playful!

HEALTH/LIFE EXPECTANCY. The Miniature Sheepadoodle tend to have quite long lifespans and are generally healthy animals. You can expect a normal Miniature Sheepadoodle to live from 12-15 years. But whatever age they are, they love to play.

FIB F1B Miniature Sheepadoodles are first generation backcross Sheepadoodles, which means they are breed from a Sheepadoodle and a Miniature Poodle. This is beneficial for those with allergies as their generation sheds even less then F1.
